AFCEA-Atlanta Presents Anand Srinivasan with $375 Cash Award for 2012 GSEF Project

AFCEA Atlanta is proud to announce the winner of the AFCEA Cash Prize awarded to Mr. Anand Srinivasan at the 2012 Georgia Science and Engineering Fair (GSEF), held on March 30, 2012, in Athens, Georgia. Mr. Srinivasan’s project is titled “iLegs: A Semi-Autonomous Robotic Locomotion Assistant.” He started working on the concept less than two years ago. In that time he was able to create the control system, human-machine interface, and working prototype robotic legs. Mr. Srinivasan has agreed to give a brief overview and demonstration of his work at the April, 2012, AFCEA luncheon from 11:30 to 1:00 pm. Anand will be accompanied by his teacher Ms. Megan Nettuno, and Mr. Srini Ramaswamy (father). The luncheon will be held at the Dobbins ARB club.

AFCEA Atlanta is pleased to receive a most generous donation to the Chapter on behalf of Richard and Linda Kruger. The donation is intended to help the efforts of the USO during Operation BLOCK LEAVE on December 18, 2011 at the USO office at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta. The gift is well received and deeply appreciated. It will ensure the military heroes/heroines transiting through the Airport are given a warm welcome to Atlanta while they are in transit to and from international theaters of operation. Mr. and Mrs. Kruger, on behalf of the US Troops, the USO, and the AFCEA Atlanta Chapter, we offer our enthusiastic “Thank You!”

Carson Conway Receives AFCEA Scholarship

Carson Conway receives an AFCEA Scholarship Award at the May Luncheon. (Carson is on the left!)

Carson Conway, pictured here recieving the business end of a scholarship from AFCEA-Atlanta, is a student at Georgia Tech studying Electrical Engineering.

Mr. Conway is a third year cadet in the Air Force ROTC Detachment 165. He has taught Sunday School for his home Church, helped serve meals to the needy and volunteered for various school organizations. In ROTC he has assisted with recruitment, developed a new processing program and aided in the improvement of training for cadets. He is an active member of a church community and volunteers at a high school.

Carson was present his scholarship at the May, 2011, AFCEA luncheon held at GTRI. Congratulations Carson!

Pat Harrington, the Georgia Regional Vice President for AFCEA (seated center, front row) swore in the new Board of Director members and chapter officers at the May 2011 Luncheon. Unfortunately, not all the BOD members were present for the picture. Mitch Able (center row, 4th from the left) was sworn in as the Chapter President for the next 12 months. Congratulations to the new officers!

If you missed the May 5th tailgate party, you missed a good one. Thanks to Paige DeCaro for setting this great event up. It was another blissful day at Turner Field. Thanks also, to all those who particpated and supported the Atlanta Chapter Young AFCEANs. See you next year.

AFCEA TAC C4 Golf Tournament 2011

We had a very successful and fun Golf Tournament on April 18, 2011. The tournament allows the attendees of the annual AFCEA Tactical C4 Conference and Symposium to relax and do a little networking.

It was a perfect weather day with lots of good golf, fun, food, and fellowship. Enjoy the slide show.

AFCEA-ATL Selects Anand Srinivasan 2011 Georgia Science and Engineering Fair (GSEF) Award Winner

Mr Anand Srinivasan of Roswell HS wins $750 AFCEA award.

Mr. Anand Srinivasan outstanding science project was recognized by AFCEA-Atlanta as the winner of a $750 cash award at the 2011 Georgia Science and Engineering Fair (GSEF). Anand’s project titled “’Doc Ock’ Applications of EEG Technology” captured the attention and praise of the AFCEA judge. He attends Roswell High School in Roswell, GA, just north of Atlanta where Ms Megan Nettuno is his teacher and sponsor for the fair. Ms Nettuno also was awarded $500 for her contribution over the last year helping Anand develop and deliver the project to the public. Congratulations Anand!
